The Yelapa-Abiquiu Connection
Prehistoric Abiquiu, like most of what is now the desert Southwest, in the United States, was once a shallow sea. The bones, shells and other remains of that land are uncovered by paleontologists at Ghost Ranch, New Mexico. Melinda Silver spent several weeks painting in Yelapa, Mexico, while living in a small house surrounded by a shallow sea. These paintings speak of the convergence of these two seemingly disparate places on earth.
